Save the Date: CBAA Pivot(al) Meeting
Saturday, June 13, 2026

Book art education is entering a period of meaningful change, and the choices we make now—how we teach, create, and support one another—will shape the years ahead. This gathering is designed to bring us together, reconnect us across regions, and help us set a strong direction for the future.

On June 13, 2026, CBAA: The Association for Book Art Education will unite book artists, printers, librarians, and educators nationwide through a network of regional hubs hosted by book arts centers, schools, libraries, and universities. We encourage you to consider becoming a host site in your own community.

Why Pivot(al)?

A pivot is both a turning point and a point of connection—and our field is experiencing both. Pivot(al) is crafted to help us move forward with clarity and shared purpose, nurturing creativity, equity, and collaboration so book arts continue to flourish.

Pivot(al) will be a day to:

  • Explore new teaching approaches and classroom resources
  • Build partnerships and strengthen local and national connections
  • Engage with topics of equity, access, sustainability, and advocacy
  • Celebrate the creativity and resilience that define book arts education

How it works:
CBAA will provide a playbook and video catalogue to guide hosts in shaping their event. The day’s program will include:

  • Opening remarks from the CBAA President
  • A keynote address by IBé Crawley, book artist and sculptor
  • Demo videos from artists (via call for entry)
  • Artist book readings from members (via call for entry)

Hosts will offer the space and on-site facilitation that bring people together. Please note that CBAA cannot provide liability insurance; hosts and their venues are responsible for determining and securing any required coverage.

Why host?

Serving as a hub gives your community a meaningful voice in shaping the conversations that will guide the future of our field. Hosting deepens local networks, uplifts artists at all stages, sparks new ideas, and keeps book arts vibrant and essential.

If you’re interested in hosting—or would like more information—please fill out the form. If you’d like to submit content for the demo video portion of the program, please complete the application here (https://cbaa.submittable.com/submit/339720/call-for-demo-video-contributors-for-pivotal).

Let’s imagine and build the future of book art education together.

Mark your calendar and be part of what’s ahead!
