CBAA conference participants can have a 2-color Riso print made that they wish to share with the CBAA community. Prints will be made on 11 x 17 on text weight paper in two colors of the Riso operator’s choice. Printing will only be done on 1 side of the paper. You may layout your print as a broadside or a 1-sheet zine that can be folded later. Printed sheets will be available at the vendor fair free of charge.
We highly encourage content that supports the book art community in some way. You might consider creating an instructional zine or a broadside that highlights the accomplishments of individuals, groups or community organizations. Content that is not specific to book art will also be considered.
If you are interested in designing something to be Riso printed and shared the conference community, you must follow these guidelines:
Bring your paper original printed in black and red only. This will be separated on the Riso so that all the items in black will appear in the first color and all the items printed in red will appear in the second color. The Riso colors used on your print will be chosen by the Riso operator.
You may use any media to make your original including colored pencil, markers, rubber stamps, collage, digital design, etc. All elements must appear in red and black only. We cannot guarantee how the Riso will read certain reds but that’s part of the fun of Riso.
You may make your design digitally, but you MUST print it out and give it to us on paper. ONLY paper originals will be printed. We cannot print from digital files for this special conference community publishing event.
All prints made during this event must be sharable with the conference community. You are free to include your contact information as part of the print. You must leave your paper originals at the registration table when you arrive for the conference. Your originals will be available for you to retrieve on Saturday at the Riso table at the vendor fair.
We will print the first 20 originals we receive either through advanced reservation or physically at the registration table. If you would like to make a reservation to have a Riso print made, please send an email to: programmingvp@collegebookart.org.
