Pivot(al) FAQs

Q: How can I participate—in person, virtually, or both?

A: Participate in the way that works best for you. You can attend at a regional hub for a mix of in-person and virtual programming, or join fully online from anywhere. Our goal is to make this gathering as accessible as possible.

Q: What does registration cost?

A: Registration is $50 per person or $25 for students, whether you attend virtually or at a hub. This fee helps cover program costs and supports a meaningful experience for all participants. You may also purchase optional meeting swag for an additional $25. Swag can be mailed to you or picked up at your local hub.

Q: What does hosting a hub involve?

A: Hub facilitators provide space for approximately 10–35 participants, along with tables and a large video screen. Basic materials for a book art or print project will be guided by videos from the CBAA community.

If you need assistance with materials or refreshments, you may request funding from CBAA. Hosts help promote the event locally and will receive a list of registered attendees assigned to their hub.

Your main role is to create a welcoming, engaging environment. CBAA will supply the programming framework, resources, a host playbook, and Zoom meetings to support you before the event.

Q: Does CBAA provide liability insurance for hub meetings?

A: No. Hub meetings must take place in spaces where liability insurance is already in place, as CBAA cannot provide coverage for individual sites.

Q: What are the benefits of hosting a hub?

A: Hosting a hub strengthens regional connections and builds relationships that last beyond the event. You’ll help foster collaboration, spark meaningful dialogue, and support the future of book arts education in your community.

Q: Why should I submit a project demo?

A: Submitting a demo allows you to share your expertise with the wider CBAA community. Your project can inspire educators and organizers nationwide and offer adaptable ideas for teaching and programming.
